Tandoori Paratha

Punjabi love Parathas and why shouldn’t we, Nothing can beat it’s softness, taste and richness. Being a Punjabi something I must share with you all is my mom’s Tandoori Paratha recipe which is just out of this world. It is made with minimum Ingredients and in minimum time and tends to add magic to each and every vegetables or pulses recipe. This recipe is made with pure Desi ghee and is cooked in gas oven tandoor. It is made with 100% wheat flour making it one of the most healthiest breads recipe.

Introduction

This recipe is made by simply kneading wheatflour along with Desi ghee, salt and water into a soft dough and then shaping them into Parathas and cooking them from both sides on medium high flame. They are then loaded with Desi ghee and are ready to be served. This is the most simple bread recipe to make and I can’t tell you how perfect the layers of the Parathas are. You can enjoy them along with paneer butter masala, daal makhani, matter paneer and all your favorite vegetable recipes. Ingredients

Wheat flour- 2 cups
Desi ghee- 1/2 cup
Salt- 1 teaspoon or as per taste.
Water- As per requirements to knead a soft and smooth dough.

Step by step recipe with images

1) Firstly add two cups of Wheat flour in a mixing bowl.

2)Add a teaspoon of salt in it.

3)Add 3 to 4 tablespoon of Desi ghee in it.

4)Mix them well with your hands.

5)Now add water as per requirements to knead a soft dough.

6)Slowly knead a soft dough with your hands.

7)Once done, cover and rest it for 15 minutes.

8)After 15 minutes, take a some portion of dough, roll it using your palms and place it on the rolling board.

9)Using a rolling pin, roll it into a chapati.

10)Now add a teaspoon of Desi ghee on top.

11) Spread it evenly.

12)Now make a cut from the centre to one end.

13)Start rolling the dough from the end.

14)Roll them completely as shown above.

15)Now place the cone shaped dough on the rolling board as shown above.

16)Flatten it with your fingers.

17)Now roll it using a rolling pin into a Paratha.

18)It should neither be too thick nor too thin.

19)Now preheat a gas oven tandoor and add 3 Parathas in it.

20) Cover it with a lid and cook the Parathas for 2 minutes on medium to low flame.

21)Now flip the Parathas on the other side.

22)Cover and cook them again on the other side for 2 minutes.

23) Once done, Cook the Parathas on direct flame from both sides until you see reddish brown charred spots on it.

24)Once done, place it on a kitchen cloth.

25)Add a tablespoon of Desi ghee on top and spread evenly.

26)Your yummy and layered Parathas are ready to be served. Enjoy them guiltfree with your favorite gravy recipe.

Tips and Tricks

1)The dough must be soft. Avoid adding excessive water in it.
2)Resting the dough is a must. It helps in adding texture to the dough.
3)Layering the dough can be done in other ways as well. This process is easier for me.
4)The Parathas should neither be too thin nor too thick.
5) Keep the flame at medium or low for best results and texture of the Parathas.
6) Make sure you don’t overcook the Parathas on direct flame.
7)Adding ghee makes the Parathas soft and fluffy.

Healthier Version

1) You can use Multigrain or gluten free flour it you want.
2) You can add less ghee.
