Cheese Burst Dosa – A Simple and Tasty Recipe

Dosa is one of the most famous South Indian breakfast recipe. It is healthy as well as yummy. Originated from the South, Now it has become famous throughout the world for its taste and health benefits. But this cheese burst dosa recipe of ours is a more yummy and tempting version of dosa. We have tried to give our South Indian dosa a Chinese twist. This dosa can also be called as Chinese dosa. This dosa is a perfect blend of taste and nutrition and will surely satisfy your taste buds.

Introduction

Dosa is made by perfectly blending and fermenting soaked rice and urad daal , and is further spread evenly on the tava along with some oil to make it crispy. This cheese burst dosa is further stuffed with cheesy veggies to give it a yummy twist. This cheese burst dosa is my current favourite and I hope it turns out to be your favourite too. Dosa batter:

1) Firstly soak 3 cups of idli rice and 1 cup of urad dal in a pot for 5 hours.


2) Drain off the rice and daal.


3) Transfer it to the mixing jar and add required amount of water in it.

4) Coarsely blend the batter into a thick paste, if you blend it into a very smooth paste, the dosa will turn out to be soft. Repeat it with all batches.


5)Transfer if to another Bowl and ferment it for 8 hours.


6) After 8 hours, The batter will double with a lot of air bubbles in it, indicating proper fermentation. Your batter is ready.

Stuffing:

1) Firstly take a mixing bowl and add a cup of chopped onions in it.

2) Add a cup of chopped capsicum in it.

3) Now add a cup of grated carrot in it.

4) Add a cup of mayonnaise in it

5) Add a cup of grated cheese in it.

6) Add 3 to 4 tablespoon of tomato ketchup in it.

7) Next, Add 1 teaspoon of black pepper powder to the bowl.

8) Add 1 teaspoon of salt in it.

9) Add a tablespoon of schezwan sauce in it.

10) Mix all the ingredients well with the help of a spoon.

11) Once done keep it aside for later.

How to make cheese dosa

1)Once the batter has fermented well, Add salt and mix it well with a spatula.

2) Heat the tava in medium high flame and sprinkle some water over it.wipe off the tava properly. Add ladleful of batter on hot tava.

3) Spread it evenly avoiding gaps.

4)Add 1 to 2 tablespoon of oil to make it crispy.

5) Once it turns golden brown and crisp, spread 1 and 1/2 tablespoon of cheesy veg stuffing on the dosa.

6) Cook it for a minute until cheese melts and bubbles up .

7) Scrape all the sides gently using a scraper.

8) Slice the dosa into three even slices.

9) Roll each slice as shown above.

10) Finally your tempting cheese burst dosa is ready to be served with red chutney.

Tips and Tricks

1) Don’t blend the batter into smooth paste, it will make the dosa soft. Blend it into a coarse batter.
2) Add required amount of water to the batter. Too thick or too thin batter will not give you a perfect dosa.
3) Make sure your tawa is properly greased and non stick.
4) don’t add excess mixture in the dosa it will make it soggy.
5) blend the batter properly. There should be no lumps in it.

  • 3 cups Idli rice

  • Salt- as per taste
  • 2 – 3 Semolina(sooji)

For Stuffing:

  • 1 cup Mayonnaise
  •  2 to 3 grated cubes Cheese
  •    3 to 4 tablespoon Tomato ketchup
  • 2 tablespoon Schezwan sauce
  • Onion 1 medium sized (finely chopped)
  • Capsicum- 1 medium sized (finely chopped)
  • 2 to 3 (finely grated) Carrots
  •  1/2 tablespoon Black pepper powder
  •  1/4 tablespoon Salt  or as per taste

    5) Now add 3 to 4 tablespoon of tomato ketchup to the bowl.
    6) Add 1 tablespoon of schezwan sauce to it.
    7) Next, Add 1/2 tablespoon of black pepper powder to the bowl.
    8) Add 1/4 tablespoon of salt.
    9) Mix them all well.
    10) Now add the chopped onions and capsicum to the mixture and mix well.

How to make cheese dosa:

  • 1)Once the batter has fermented well, mix it well with a spatula.
    2) Now add salt and 3 to 4 tablespoon of Semolina to the batter and mix well.
    3) Heat the tava in medium high flame and sprinke some water over it.
    4) wipe off the tava properly.
    5) Add ladleful of batter on hot tava and spread evenly.
    6) Add 1 to 2 tablespoon of oil to make it crispy.
    7) Now spread 1 and 1/2 tablespoon of cheesy veg stuffing on the dosa.
    8 ) Roast until the dosa turns golden brown and crisp.
    9) Scrape all the sides and roll the dosa. Cut it evenly into three pieces.
    10) Finally your cheese burst dosa is ready to be served with schezwan sauce.
